• It is possible that one purpose of this console was to let the player see the chancel. This made it easier to play for the service. • This video reminds of so much of the day The AEolian-Skinner Auditorium Organ console, Community of Christ (RLDS) Independence, Missouri, returned from California having been upgraded to solid-state circuitry and some new drawknobs for future preparations were installed. As it finally arrived inside the Conference Chamber up onto the vast stage, it still needed to be lifted up, over the wooden back wall of the Rostrum. Many men were "called together" from the Auditorium maintenance staff to do this huge and loving chore. Just before the "lift" work began, JOHN OBETZ, 2nd Principal Organist of the denomination, admonished all to "present yourselves a living sacrifice..." and then the deed was done. RODNEY GILES accompanied the World Conference Choir through Handel's MESSIAH, soloists, choir and the Organ (alone) sections. Not a single glitch in all that Concert - due to the great care that was taken with the moving. painstakingly and slow-carefully as had also been done with the console in shipment on the plane and on the ground --- and back into its usual residing place.
